How it works
Everything you need to know before your first meeting.
The short version
We meet every first and third Thursday at 5:45 PM at Kazoo Books. Members submit work ahead of each meeting, everyone reads before they arrive, and we spend the session giving and receiving feedback.
Before the meeting
- Members submit manuscripts to a shared Google Drive folder before the deadline
- Submissions are typically up to 5,000 words — short stories, novel chapters, whatever you’re working on
- Everyone reads the submissions and comes prepared with feedback
At the meeting
Each submission gets dedicated discussion time. The group reads closely and gives honest, constructive critique — what’s working, what isn’t, and how to make the piece stronger.
If you’re new, you’re welcome to just listen for your first session and get a feel for how things work.

Science fiction, fantasy, and everything in between — space opera, urban fantasy, horror-adjacent weird fiction, literary speculative fiction, you name it. If it’s got a speculative element, it belongs here.
